Laser Hair Removal in Columbia, SC
Unwanted hair is a common problem for many. Traditional methods of hair removal, such as shaving, plucking, and waxing, are time-consuming, inconvenient, and often quite painful.
Laser hair removal is a long-term solution to dealing with unwanted hair. It is the third most-performed cosmetic procedure in the country, and it can be performed on any place on the body at any time of year.
Transformation Medical Center offers advanced laser hair removal treatments in Columbia, SC, in a comfortable environment.
Our Advanced Laser Hair Removal Treatments
At Transformation Medical Center, we perform laser hair removal using the Alma Soprano Titanium laser.
An all-in-one trio handpiece combines the three most effective wavelengths for hair removal -755 nm, 810 nm, and 1064 nm – with ICE Plus technology.
ICE Plus is a unique cooling system that continuously cools the skin to keep the treatment comfortable.
The risk of burns is minimized while deep heat is maintained within, where the hair follicles are treated.
Soprano Titanium lasers are the premier tool for maximizing the overall hair removal experience.
How Laser Hair Removal Works
During laser hair removal, released light energy from the laser goes through the skin where the pigment in the hair follicle and the hair shaft absorbs it. The energy damages the follicle and impairs its ability to grow.
Hair follicles in the active growth stage usually respond best to laser treatments because they contain more pigment, which absorbs more energy.
Who is a good candidate for laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal can be safely performed on all skin types, from very light to very dark, but it is most effective on individuals with dark hair. Those with very light or gray hair are usually not ideal candidates; however, a variety of additional factors can be used to determine suitability.
What to Expect During the Treatment
Prior to laser hair removal, you should:
- Shave the area to be treated.
- Minimize sun exposure
- Discontinue all waxing, plucking, and tweezing on areas receiving treatment for two weeks before.
- Discontinue excessive UV exposure, tanning, tanning beds, and tanning creams on areas receiving treatment for four weeks prior.
For the treatment:
- A gel is applied to the skin, and eye shields are provided to protect you from the light before the laser device is used.
- During the removal process, a slight rubberband-like snap may be felt when the energy is delivered into the hair follicles.
- When the treatment is complete, the gel is removed, and a cooling gel may be applied to the treated skin.
Treatments only last minutes depending on the size of the area.
Typical Laser Hair Removal Cost
A laser hair removal session generally costs between $100 and $800. Six to ten sessions may be recommended to remove all the hair. The fee applies to each treatment.
